Is there a genre that can be more emotional then the atmospheric metal, well there is maybe some but they’re few. Sylvaine (French/Latin for “Of the forest”) belongs to that category, music with emotions.
Sylvaine is something that is still a unique form of band, a solo project. Yes there are many good acts that you can consider as one man bands, but Sylvaine is even there a little of an outsider, a one female band. Sylvaine, who’s name is Kathrine Shepard, is from the wonderful country of Norway. An artist gifted with a talent of grace, and what many just can dream to achieve, and even less has the ear for beautiful fairy tales of sound. Sylvaine have released two full-length albums earlier in 2014 and 2016 with the third album being named, Atoms Aligned, Coming Undone. This is music that contains in the file of Shoegaze/Blackgace, which is a form of atmospheric post metal. A genre that I often symbolized with acts from France, Austria, Germany and Iceland. And now also from Norway.
So what can I say about the music, astonishing and really magnificent. Every time I listen to those beautiful, heart-beating guitar lines in the background, it gives me a seductive heat and combined the chorus, that will just end with goosebumps. What can I say about the voice of this multi-instrumentalist, heart breaking. I can hear anger, sorrow and even thoughtfulness. She has a voice with tremendous amount of power, that makes you feel that you need to stop talking, and start to listen.
The hypnotized emotions that I receive of this album is pure joy and satisfaction. I really hope that you all have a moment over for this latest album from an fantastic artist. You can never haste with music of this kind, it must take it’s time to grow, to plant it’s seed of the melancholic voice. To grip you in a trance.
