Like a cold spirit running through your desolate body, we are presented by this US band’s second full-length. Chalice Of Suffering released their debut in 2016 which immediately was praised within the doom/atmospheric community. The act was formed in Minneapolis 2015 as a six-piece orchestra, and still are to this point.
Chalice of Suffering’s second album to date is named “Lost Eternally” and with this new release I will not be ashamed that they’d have improved from their already superb debut. The band is heavily influenced by the slow funeral doom, with it’s everlasting riffs that echoes from their misty presence.
The music from Chalice’s make me think about being lost in a swampland, or on the moors of Scotland, like if it was written by modern druids. A fetish that have always been stuck with me, is the use of instruments that often are not the first choice in a metal act, such as flute, violin, organ and so on. Here we have the delightful opportunity to see what bagpipes can do for doom, from my own personal belief it have never sound better.
Lost Eternally is an album for you that want doom in another outfit. An album that needs your presence. I guarantee that you will appreciate it.
