Let me tell you a little something about Deranged. In the early 90’s when death metal really came to live in Sweden and swedeath was born there was a band in the south of Sweden who would rather get influenced by the brutal death metal US scene (Carcass, Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse). From there on one of Swedens most influential bands Deranged came to life in 1991 and they are still around kicking teeth. Struck by a Murderous Siege is the bands 9th full-length album and it’s been five years since their masterpiece Cut Carve Rip Serve was out.
Deranged still got that groovy yet brutal feeling on their riffs, making it easy to get into. As always their lyrical theme is on violence, murders, death and criminal acts. Which sadly is rather fitting at these times in Malmö (biggest town in the south of Sweden). Blasting off with The Frail Illusion of Osteology Deranged sets the bar high on the album with on of their best songs ever released. Everything on that song is just perfectly executed in a way only Deranged can pull it off and it’s the perfect track for getting to know what Deranged are all about. Other tracks that sticks out on the album are Toy Box Torture Chamber and Cold Icy Hands.
Struck by a Murderous Siege is a great follow-up to Cut Carve Rip Serve and since the bands resurrection in 2009 Deranged has gone full-throttle, not even thinking about slowing down. Deranged are back for real and Struck by a Murderous Siege proves it.
