Wayfarer – Old Souls (Atmospheric Black Metal)

What’s black, dark and reeks of pagan death? Wayfarer’s album Old Souls of course! Having listened to this album twice now these last days I can easily say it grows on you the more you listen to it. It’s epic, heavy and intense and it craves your full attention as this is no easy listening. Wayfarer brings something rather unique to the genre but I would probably put Wayfarer as a cross-breed between Primordial and Moonsorrow, if I had to. The cover hits me as one of the nicer ones I’ve seen and really fits their style and song-writing about nature, landscapes and history. Whole sound of the album really gives you that feeling of going into the wild and being in a post-apocalyptic world of life and death versus nature.

Old Souls is one of the better albums I’ve heard so far this year and I get a sudden urge to climb mountains for some reason…
